Turning Positive

Being positive about life is a choice, A choice I've made recently. Even on those dark-stormy-grey days I've promised my self to pick out the positives and focus on them, no matter how big or small they are. I believe this is a healthy attitude to have.

I've came up with a bit of a list I can refer back to:

No.1 PUT MY SELF FIRST FOR A WHILE. It's time to focus on all my own needs rather than tending to everyone else. We are all guilty of putting other peoples needs ahead of our own & we sometimes forget who number 1 really is...!

No.2 DO ALL THE SILLY SIMPLE FUN THINGS THAT MAKE ME HAPPY. Singing in the shower. Watching 80&90s sitcoms. Styling my hair in silly hair styles. Reading gossip mags. Covering all tables with bright coloured material. Smiling at randoms. Reading those little inspirational coffee table books.

NO.3 WRITING THINGS DOWN. Whether it's a journal or my blog, I love to share things. Creating a safe place I can come to when I need to get away from the pressure of daily life.

NO.4 MAKE SOMEONE SMILE DAILY. It's simple.. Just to see someone smile is a great gift.

NO.5 LISTEN TO MY BODY. This is an important one. I always ignore what my body asks for. It's time to get healthy, A healthy body leads to a healthy mind and Visa Versa. 7-8 hours sleep a night, the perfect balance! Most of all to drink alot more water!!!

NO.6 STOP PUTTING SO MUCH IMPORTANCE ON MONEY. I've always put way to much importance on money & it's definitely a big stress in my life. It is possible to live our lives regardless of the status of our wallets. I'm not saying I don't need or want money. I just don't want it to be the most important thing in my life anymore

NO.7 NOT BEING AFRAID TO MAKE MISTAKES. I'm not perfect, not at all! I make mistakes alot, but I learn from them quick. I've accepted that there is going to be alot more mistakes in my life time. They make me who I am!

So my plan is to cherish the moment, and appreciate all the small things in life. I want to watch the sunrise in the mornings and smell ocean at dusk. I know some people will think I'm sounding like "strawberry shortcake" or one of the "care bears" but I no longer care what others think. It's my life and I've only got this one chance to live it {and I'm going to live it my way}

Going to the airport...

Today I pick my Dad up from the airport. He works away you see, 3 weeks on 1 week off...(or something like that). I'm excited to go pick my Dad up, so I can talk to him about all my upcoming plans. [yes I'm a Daddys girl]

The amount of times I drive to the airport is ridiculous, mostly because I'm not flying anywhere {insert sad face here}. I love the airport, especially when I'm the one flying somewhere. It's that "kid in a candy store" kind of excitement I'm talking about.

When I'm not the one flying or have time to waste before a flight, I like to watch people (not in the creepy stalker way). I like to try and guess where someone is going, or where they just came from. Try it out sometime, just look at what they are traveling with and try to guess where they are going, you will come up with some really funny ideas.

Unfortunately this time I don't even need to get out of the car, So no people watching for me. It will be all peak hour traffic and me getting angry at people who wont let me into their lane! (I hate these people).

So I better be off, hope I don't get stuck in traffic!!!

Sunshine!!!!

What a nice BEAUTIFUL day! =o)

I jumped out of bed this morning, dreading another horrible day stuck inside. Made my way to the lounge room, via the fridge & then got straight onto my blog {which is seeming to become a morning habit}. I wrote out my first blog of the day and hit post, then checked my bank to see if my tax was in.. "YIPPY" it was all there, now that's a great start to my day.

"That's all done! Now what to do" I thought to my self while taking the dog outside.
All I can say is I think both me and Q(the dog) were in shock when I opened the door to sunshine and a warm breeze! "This isn't winter" I said to Q, he just looked at me and took off into the sunshine filling the backyard.

I'm sure I don't need to explain to anyone why I was out of the house within 20 minutes and not back until 4o'clock this afternoon. I could not possibly resist spending the day in the sunshine, so that's what I did. It really amazes me how a little bit of sunshine can make you feel 100 times happier & healthier.

The photo's I've shared with you all today are one of the first things I noticed this morning, One beautiful yellow rose growing out my front door {seems I wasn't the only one blossoming in the sunshine today}.  I hope everyone else enjoyed this lovely are rare day of sunshine just like I did.

Letter to Jessica

Dear Jessica,

It's been 11 months since you left us. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you in someway.

Your photo sits in my lounge room, your smile makes me smile each and everyday.
I look at your photo and hear your dorky laugh, this makes me giggle each and everyday.
I see your hair dyed dark, you trying to hide your natural colour, this makes me laugh each and everyday.
I look at your photo and I see my baby cousin who had grown into a beautiful young woman, this makes me miss you each and everyday.

Photos and memories are all that's left, it will never be enough but its all we have. Just because I don't cry anymore doesn't mean I don't miss you, I've just learnt to turn negative emotions into positive ones. So when ever I think of you I smile, smile at the thought of you loving all this attention, smile at the thought of you watching over all of us.

I hope you are loving being 18 forever, partying it up and smiling down on all of us!
Miss you to the moon and back one thousand times Little Miss.

Love you

Goals!

We all have days when we need a boost, days when we are feeling down on ourselves, days when life just make you want to scream. But all you got to do is smile & try to see the positive side of a negative situation. Easier said than done? Yeah you're right it is, but once you start doing it, it will amaze you how easy it becomes.

We only get one chance to make our life what we want and nothing is unachievable. Set goals and do what ever it takes to reach them, start with simple ones & once you reach them go for one a little bit more challenging.

I've set my self some goals in the last few weeks and they feel almost impossible at this stage, but I know once I'm out of here they will be alot easier to grasp. They are:

  • Move away from the valley.
  • Start & complete my OH&S study
  • Get a full time job is safety
  • Learn to fish
  • Learn to drive a manual (I can already, just some trouble going down in gears)
