Mandurah Update

I'll admit, I've been slack with updating you all with my plans of moving interstate. I'm so very sorry! I've been flat out trying to organise everything, engagement parties, day trips, catching up with family and much more. Now I just have to find where to start...

My flight is booked as many of you know by facebook. I'll be flying with Jetstar on Friday the 30th September and yes I know this is AFL grand final weekend (as I got informed 10 minutes after booking my ticket by my best mate Stacey). Lucky for me I my wonderful Aunty Vicky has offered to pick me up from the airport and offered to let me stay with her for a little while. I really did not want to be a hassle on anyone, but trying to find a house from here is becoming impossible (to say the least)!

Another exciting thing (well exciting to me) is that my Dad has offered to pay for my car to get freighted over!! This is not only saving us alot of money, he has also found a boutique courier that is willing to let me pack my car full of all my lovely belongings! 99% of couriers say no to allowing you to pack your car, So this is a huge bonus!!!!

Now all there is to do it organise, pack and visit everybody before I go. So if you want to see me and I haven't already contacted you PLEASE do!! (I'm so forgetful lately)

[Edit to Post] Note: As something has came up, I am no longer able to stay with my Aunty Vicky at this stage. So its time to try and find somewhere new. STRESS levels are up!!!! Wish me luck

Why am I moving?

ANSWERS ANSWERS ANSWERS

As you all may or may not know I'm moving to Mandurah, Western Australia on the 30th September. That is 43 days away, which is so very close. I've had many question to why I'm moving away, why have I decided to do it so soon & what am I going there for. You're at the right place to find these answers.

I've had alot of time on my hands these last few months, alot of time to think about where I want to be in the future. Every time I think about my future I don't picture it here in Victoria. I've always loved Mandurah and as my friends and family know, I've previously lived there for a period of about 4 months.

The reason I've decided to go so soon is I need to work. Inverloch has nothing to offer me, It's a town for old people and hippies. Plus the fact that I want to just live on my own for a little, not have to worry about picking up after anyone but my self while I do some study. ME TIME!!!

So the reasons I am leaving is Work, Study & Future. They are my reasons and I'm happy with them. To all my friends, Please don't think yous are getting rid of me that easy. I'll be back late November & over the Christmas holidays, and I'll be using this time to catch up with all of you. Lucky for us in this day and age we have facebook, so I'll be up to date on most things.

Please come visit! Mandurah is a BEAUTIFUL place and I'll always have a spare bed..

Changing plans...

Location: Inverloch Caves, Wonthaggi Mine, Inverloch Beach

The "Old Fart" called me last night, with an offer I could not possibly knock back. As he is the biggest worry-wart on earth (maybe in the entire Galaxy), he has offered to pay for my car to get transported over to WA by truck. ...WOW... Offers like this don't come around everyday.

So what did I think about this? Well I'm grateful, very! As much as the idea of this road trip has been exciting, I have to sit back and look at the big picture. I need to get to Mandurah and put the wheels in motion ASAP! So yes, I'm very excited, Thankful and just over the moon. The Nullarbor isn't going to vanish tomorrow =o)

Location: Mandurah foreshore
I don't like asking for help, more lately than ever before. I'm stubborn just like my Dad I guess, got to get it from somewhere. I also think I'm trying to prove something to my self, but I'm not to sure what that is just yet. All I can say is I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have such amazing parents.

So this is a big huge loving thank-you to my Dad!!

Operation Ocean Scapegoat?...

..."What is it?" I hear you ask. It is a life changing road trip, seachange & risk I'm willing to take to sort out my life!

I've started this blog to keep a record, as well as supply useful information about traveling from Victoria to WA by car. Yes, I know alot of people would be saying "Why drive?", "Fly you crazy girl!", but I need my car and the drive across the Nullarbor is something I've always wanted to do. We live in a beautiful sun kissed country, Why not check it all out at any chance we are given?!?

The plan so far (subject to change slightly) is to leave my iceburg of a home 2 hours S/E of Melbourne and try and get the first leg done and arrive in Adelaide on the same day/night. The plan so far goes something like this:

OPERATION:
Ocean Scapegoat
MISSION:
To sucsessfully drive from the Victorian
coast to the Western Australian coast.
WEAPON OF CHOICE:
VT COMMODORE
COMMENCE DATE:
TBA

DAY 1
Leaving 4am-5am
Home-Ballarat
260km= 3 hours driving time
Hours stop to visit Family.

Ballarat-Adelaide via Western Hwy and Dukes Hwy
615km= 8 hours
Arriving 7pm-8pm

Day 2
Spend some time around Adelaide
Adelaide-Port Augusta
308km= 4 hours

Day 3
Port Augusta-Ceduna
465km= 5 Hours
This is the start of the Nullarbor, Will be time to stock up on supplies and get a good nights rest before the long drive of nothingness that lays ahead.

Day 4
There is a few possibilities for this leg of the trip, But for the moment this one seems the friendly one! The Nullarbor is going to be a very boring, long drive.
Ceduna-Cocklebiddy
760km= 8 hours

Day 5
Cocklebiddy-Kalgoorlie
620km= 7 hours

Day 6
Kalgoorlie-Mandurah
660km= 8 hours
Destination Reached!

So I know this sounds long and so many people have said "I done it in 2 days", "3 days max" but this is MY trip & I want to take my time and enjoy it, plus I'll have plenty of useful information to share here with others wanting to do the trip.
